NH Immunization Coalition Introduction and Update

by Tara Graham, NHPHA Immunization Coalition Coordinator

Immunization coalitions are comprised of a variety of community partners, including healthcare and public health professionals, community and industry leaders, parents, businesses, and anyone else interested in improving vaccination rates in the region that the coalition serves.  They accomplish this through education, collaboration, and advocacy, bringing reliable, scientifically proven information to the community.

Current research suggests that widespread resistance to and rejection of vaccinations may exist once they become available. Community leaders, grassroots activists, as well as all types of healthcare providers need to be able to recognize barriers to vaccination acceptance while at the same time maintaining respect for differences. Out of such understanding, it is hoped that culturally competent interventions and deployment strategies will promote individual health choices and civic responsibility.

NHPHA is very excited to announce its newest initiative, a NH Immunization Coalition!  This program is in the early stages of start-up, branding, and building foundational materials and policies.  If you would like more information or would like to be involved, please reach out to Tara Graham at [email protected] - and stay tuned for more updates!
