NHPHA Member Spotlight: Lisa Bujno

Each month, the NHPHA Newsletter does a spotlight on an NHPHA member. For the May issue, we are honored to feature the NHPHA Past Board President and the President Award recipient, Ms. Lisa Bujno.

What is your current role/job title, and where?

I am currently the Assistant Medical Director and Risk Manager at Ammonoosuc Community Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with five locations in northern Grafton County.

What’s been the highlight of your career thus far?

I’ve loved all the jobs I’ve had in my career, from my first nursing role in the newborn nursery to my years working as a nurse practitioner in FQHCs. Probably the highlight of my career was my work at the NH Division of Public Health Services where I served as Prenatal/Adolescent Coordinator in Maternal and Child Health, as Title V Director/MCH Bureau Chief, and as Deputy Director. I am in awe of the talented and dedicated people who work tirelessly to improve the health of our population.

Tell me about your experience volunteering on the board for NHPHA and being an NHPHA member. What do you value about the organization?

I was first on the NHPHA board in 2010 as Treasurer, then joined again in 2018 and served as President in 2020-2021. I think the organization serves as a critical voice for public health. NHPHA plays an important role in supporting the public health infrastructure through its workforce programs and support of coalitions. NHPHA’s efforts to promote strong public health policy are also vital to the health of the state’s residents.

Who is your hero, and why?

One hero is Martin Luther King Jr. He inspired true change in our country and the impact of his work lives on today.

What is your favorite movie?

One favorite movie is The Stand. I loved the book by Stephen King and thought the movie was very consistent with the book. It’s a great tale of good vs. evil with many life lessons about dealing with adversity.

Are you more productive in the morning or afternoon?

I’m definitely more productive in the afternoon after my morning coffee takes effect!

Do you have any tattoos, and if so, what?

I don’t have any tattoos, so far…
