Join Dr. Chris Chanyasulkit, President of the American Public Health Association, for her session, where she discusses APHA's advocacy priorities to promote health and equity while also addressing systemic causes of the social determinants of health. At the Membership Annual Meeting, NHPHA hosts a Student Poster Session. This is an opportunity for students conducting health research and community-based work to present their research work and network with public health professionals. The event aims to empower students and facilitate employment and research partnerships while offering students professional development opportunities. Posters are judged, and prizes are awarded to the best student posters. Patricia TilleyPatricia Tilley has spent greater than 25 years in support of children and their families as a classroom teacher, family resource center director, Maternal and Child Health Title V Director and public health professional.
She is currently the Director of the Division of Public Health Services within the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. Her role is to foster systemic approaches to promote health and wellbeing, prevent chronic conditions and to reduce health inequities across the lifespan. She is responsible for the coordination and assessment of public health systems and policies and works in partnership with communities to protect, promote and improve the health of all Granite Staters. Tricia has spent much of her career focusing on strategies to support families by preventing adverse childhood experiences through systems that encourage safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments for families with an emphasis on early prevention. Tricia earned a BA in Developmental Psychology from Hampshire College, Amherst, MA and a MS Ed from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. |
Chris ChanyasulkitChris Chanyasulkit is grounded in a strong belief in eliminating the structural barriers to equity for marginalized populations. She holds leadership positions with local, state, regional and national governance and civic engagement organizations, working to promote racial, gender, and health equity. She served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Massachusetts Asian American Commission and the Commission on the Status of Women where she advocated for the needs of Asian Americans and Women throughout the Commonwealth. Passionate about reproductive rights, she also served on the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) Advocacy Board of Directors from 2013-2019 and currently, serves on the PPLM Board of Directors for the medical center.
Dr. Chanyasulkit has served as a Human Services Specialist and Assistant Director of Diversity in the Massachusetts town of Brookline’s Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations. She designed and delivered graduate public health courses at the Simmons University Department of Public Health. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Temple University, where she teaches Public Health Advocacy in the College of Public Health. Chris earned a B.A. in Biology and Art History from Boston University, an M.P.H. (with a concentration in maternal and child health care) from the Boston University School of Public Health, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Northeastern University, where she conducted research on health disparities. In addition to her advocacy and scholarly pursuits, Dr. Chanyasulkit is Immediate Past Chair of the Executive Board of the American Public Health Association (APHA), an elected Library Trustee of the Public Libraries of Brookline, a Brookline Town Meeting Member, a Brookline Community Emergency Response Team member, a Brookline Medical Reserve Corps member, a Brookline Community Foundation Board Member, and a Mentor Mom for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Parent Connection Program. She lives in Brookline, Massachusetts with her husband, James, a software engineer, and their three children. |
