New Statewide Campaign to Address Drop in Vaccination and Other Preventative Services for Adolescents

Vaccination Starts With You Encourages Adolescent Wellness Visits and Vaccinations

CONCORD, N.H., August 9, 2022 (Newswire.com) - The New Hampshire Public Health Association's VaxWell NH, in collaboration with the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services, announced the launch of Vaccination Starts with You, a campaign designed to improve adolescents' wellness vaccination visits.

In the past two years, there has been a marked drop in vaccination and other preventative services, leaving children and adolescents at greater risk for vaccine-preventable diseases. All age cohorts have seen a decrease in wellness visits during the COVID-19 pandemic, with adolescent age cohorts most impacted. As the impact of the pandemic continues, focused efforts on maintaining recommended vaccinations while recovering missing vaccinations are critical. Summer is a perfect time to catch up on wellness visits and vaccinations, and everyone can help make that happen.

According to the NHPHA Executive Director, Hanan Bedri, "The campaign brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, school nurses, community health workers, and other key influencers, to remind families that summer is a perfect time to catch up on wellness vaccination visits so that their children and teens don't miss out on school and other activities this coming fall."

"Teens' health needs to change with their bodies in large and small ways, and getting teens vaccinated against infectious diseases can help them from getting sick and missing out on the important milestones in their life. Parents and caregivers can do their part by talking with their teen's healthcare provider about which vaccines are right for their growing adolescents," said the Director of the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services, Patricia M. Tilley.
The campaign includes outreach to stakeholders, adolescents, and their families through email, posters, and social media. Download your campaign poster today by visiting www.vaxwellnh.org/campaigns.

Protect Our Care to Hit the Road for “Lower Costs, Better Care” Nationwide Bus Tour with Two Stops in New Hampshire

Care Force One to Travel to 21+ States, Including New Hampshire, Make More than 40 Stops and Cover Nearly 12,000 Miles in Five Weeks Starting in October
CONCORD, NH — Protect Our Care has announced its fourth nationwide bus tour, entitled Lower Costs, Better Care: Help is on the Way, is coming to New Hampshire this October. From Maine to Nevada, elected officials, storytellers, and health care advocates will celebrate The Inflation Reduction Act’s measures to drive down health care costs and to let Americans know how and when they can access these new benefits. Kicking off on October 3, Care Force One will roll into districts across the country, including in New Hampshire, for events to reach out to Americans about how new laws could save them thousands of dollars a year on health care. Over five weeks, Care Force One will travel to more than 20 states, make more than 40 stops, and travel nearly 12,000 miles. The tour will be in Laconia, New Hampshire on Monday, October 3, 2022, and in Concord, New Hampshire on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Tour partners include the New Hampshire Public Health Association, Goodwin Community Health, Granite State Progress and the NH Oral Health Coalition.

“Care Force One will crisscross the nation this fall with one message: Thanks to President Biden and Democrats in Congress, help is on the way,” said Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse. “President Biden and New Hampshire lawmakers took on opposition and Big Pharma’s lobbying power to deliver lower premiums and prescription drug costs for millions of Americans. Throughout the tour, people from all walks of life will share what this bill means to them and their families. Between saving seniors thousands on their prescriptions and lowering monthly premium costs for working families, this bill stands to help millions afford lifesaving health care.”

The “Lower Costs, Better Care” five-week tour will promote the work of lawmakers who fought tirelessly to pass this historic bill.

"The New Hampshire Public Health Association (NHPHA) supports universal access to high quality evidence-based, integrated health care at a level of cost that does not create barriers to care," said the NHPHA Executive Director, Hanan Babikir Bedri. "Thanks to the NH delegation in Congress, today we celebrate lower prescription drug costs, healthcare costs, and energy costs to Americans from all walks of life, including older adults, people with disabilities, people in rural communities, and people of color.”

The Inflation Reduction Act will lower costs and improve health care for millions of Americans, with help on the way in just a matter of months. The legislation will lower premiums for 13 million Americans and drive down prescription drug prices by giving Medicare the power to negotiate, capping seniors’ out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 per year, limiting insulin copays, and stopping many of Big Pharma’s egregious price hikes. Decades in the making, this bill will help lower costs for millions of working families and seniors, and it will address the deep racial inequities in our health care system.
